Prologue | Takarakuji de 40 oku Atatta Ndakedo i Sekai ni Ijū Suru

Hello everyone!

Okay as we promised, here is the new series we’re picking up and the name is;

I Won 4 Billion in a Lottery But I Went to Another World

jnh3eek

This story is my editor’s own choice, since he isn’t that ecstatic about the other novel we’re doing like I am. Another thing I like to point out, is that we’re doing the LIGHT NOVEL version. Not the web novel, because I feel if there is a light novel you might as well translate that since it almost always differ story wise. Although, I’m not sure if this one does because we don’t read ahead.  Also, I like pictures of characters, places, and monsters to get a better feel of the story and I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels that way.

Anyways, how often this series will be posted out, we don’t know. Since the chapters are long, we’re thinking of either putting it out in sections, put the whole chapter out when finished, or when the whole volume is finished. So this is where you guys come in. Vote here to pick which one we should do. Also, on how often we’ll post Meat toilet, that will be posted when chapter 3 comes out, which will most likely be Monday.

Lotteries, do you know of such a thing?

In my country, Japan, the smaller lottery winnings can give you 300yen. But despite of the super low probability, the big lotteries can give you hundreds of millions of yen.

Many lucky billionaires are produced every year, but those lucky candidates are most likely not in the country anymore. “Dammit, I didn’t tell anyone else but my parents, so how on earth did these money mongers sniff me out…..”

He, who is one of the lucky candidates, was now driving in a family car he bought with his winnings, riding along a quiet countryside road of early summer while cursing.

The beginning of all this was about one month ago.

He finished this usual work and was returning home, taking a stop by the supermarket to buy his dinner, and noticed a lottery ticket stand, and decided on a whim to check it out.

There he saw 「Lotto 6 on sale! Carryover is now 4.2 billion yen!!」 written on a poster.

“If I strike the lottery, my 3 years as an office worker could be cut short. Taking life slow at the age of 25 would be nice.”

While dreaming of the possibilities, he thought that even though he may not win, it would still be a good story to tell, so he bought one as a test.

But, he didn’t think it would be a interesting story if he normally bought one, so he purchased ten tickets with the same numbers.

Since the maximum amount of carryover allowed per ticket is 400 million, if by some chance he won it it all by himself, he’ll win almost the full carryover amount of 4 billion yen, that sort of idiotic purchase.“However, I didn’t really think I would strike 4 billion yen.”

Yes, his stupid purchase succeeded, and accomplished the great feat of winning a 4 billion yen prize.

On a Thursday night which was the day of the lottery, Shino Kazura confirmed the winning number for spent one hour on the internet, verifying the chosen lottery numbers with his own ticket. In his cramped apartment he passed the night by staring at his public lottery tickets and walking around in circles excitedly.

And then on Friday the next day, while he was putting his hands through the sleeves he realized “There’s no need to go to work….”  Once he noticed this, he contacted his boss through the phone for a sick leave.

After that he called a taxi straight to the bank and cashed his lottery.

However it takes several days to receive the receipt for the large prize, but as soon as the receipt of money payment procedure to his account was completed, he was contacted from the bank.

And then in the beginning of the week he went to his company, ”I decided to take over my parent’s small town factory”, with that sort of excuse he submitted his letter of resignation to the boss.

The boss wondered if his guidance was a bit too strict, but then Shino Kazura politely gave a false explanation, “Because my parents are old they asked me to help them.” and seemingly satisfied with the explanation, he said to me with warm words:”It looks serious, but hang in there. If anything happens come talk to me”.

By the way, his parents’ small factory was hardly operational now, and Shino Kazura’s parents would either go on trips using their conventional savings or rent a field and make a garden as their hobby.

Afterwards, he spent the stipulated by labor laws to handle the remaining work and unfinished business deals, then resigned the next day.

He got over 50 phone calls from unheard religion, very shady sounding volunteer organizations and friends he haven’t seen since primary school contacting him for money.

Moreover, people came to his door day and night asking for money like zombies, he does not know where or how they caught wind of his winnings, so he decided to run away from his apartment.

“Isn’t there any place I can take shelter in,” He called his father with an almost desperate expectation

When his father heard of the situation from start to finish he told him of a place he can escape to ”Deep within the Gunma mountains is a ancestral house remaining there, how about escaping there? When we saw it 30 years ago it wasn’t that rundown, the roof and pillars were solid too.  Also, could you give us 100,000 yen to play around with?”

If it’s a place like that no one will come there, for the time being Shino Kazura made his decision that he’ll take shelter there. The key to the house was sent by special delivery that arrived the next day, and he is now currently driving to the house.

Incidentally, he deposited 500 million yen into his parents’ account. “Somehow I am not seeing any buildings around here…..But the car navigation system says the adress is around here.”

Driving the car for approximately 30 minutes after entering the mountain path, following the GPS for an additional 10 minutes on a narrow road, a large one story house became visible.

The house looked rather pretty, gravel was spread alongside the front of the house and were almost no weeds.

A bamboo forest is spread around, making a rustling sound as the wind shakes the bamboo’s leaves. ”Ohh, so this is it. Although it has been left unattended for 30 years, it’s in pretty good shape.”

He stopped the car on the gravel and got off to check the area. The building’s condition seem to cleaner then he thought it would be.

He went to the house and entered with the key, it wasn’t necessary to clean up the interior either and could be lived in as is.

It hardly looked like it was neglected for 30 years. “I wonder why it looks so clean. Perhaps all good buildings stay in good condition even when left alone.”

While Shino Kazura felt something a little ominous, he kept looking around inside the house.

Thereupon the deepest part of the building, he discovered a room with double doors that opened outward, locked with a padlock. “Ehh…. why is there a room with a padlock within this house….”

While still having a eerie concern he touched the padlock, it then made a “snap” sound and crumbled to dust.

“Hyii?!” Shino Kazura let out a shameful scream and stepped back, the padlock should have fell down but instead it disappeared. “…..this is one of those flags, where if I open this door I’ll go missing without a trace. But I’m still gonna open it.” (1)

As Shino Kazura declared, he went to his car and carried out a rope and attached it to the doorknob, while clinging to a remote piller about 10 meters away and pulled the rope with all his might.

While pulling rope the door opened easily opened with a “creak”,and inside exposed an ordinary 6 tatami matted room.

Shino Kazura afterwards muttered,”…..damn….” and entered the room while sighing. “What in god’s sake, this is just an normal 6 tata….mi….”

When he entered the room and lifted his face, there were no signs of the 6 tatami room he saw a minute ago, but was replaced with a cold stone pavement covering both the ceiling and floor.

Flustered, he quickly turned his head behind. What he saw was the double doors hanging open and beyond that was the wide room paved in stone. “Eh? What the, did I just get spirited away? Wait…WAH?!

When he tried going back the road he came from, the space around him changed back to the house the instant he went through the open double doors.

Then he crossed the border once again, and was then back at the stone passage again. “Ooh, this is awesome….”

Like that, he went back and forth between the house and the stone passage several times, then Shino Kazura looked at the soles of his feet. “….Lets me get the shoes from the entrance.”

His shoe socks were heavily stained by the dirt and stone pavement.

    1. We’re aware this person is teasing the series, hoping for someone to work on faster. We also know his doing the web novel version, while we’re going the extra mile to bring you guys the light novel. And I already informed the owner of that website, and they already mentioned another group picking it up in his updates(Which is us.) Although this wasn’t needed, I still thank you for you informing us, because if we didn’t do our research we would already be working on something meaningless.

  1. I’m looking forward to reading the LN version. Are there any noteable differences to the WN version? Thanks for taking your time translating this, by the way.

    1. Not from what I know of, but there are some minor changes in the wording and format right now. When we translate into the story more, I will mention it.

    1. That’s fine, since we’re doing the LN and not really at a steady space. It’s more of a side project of sorts.

  2. at last the light novel version.
I think it better to post per chapter rather post per volume or divide it into some part.
    thanks for translating.
